Slovenia PrvaLiga: Round 2 Review

Gorica won their first game of the season with a 2-1 victory over Rudar. They took the lead just before half time with a goal from Martinovic, and extended their lead 20 minutes before full time through Dzuzdanovic. However, Rudar pulled one back just 2 minutes later Prasnikar, but Gorica held on for all 3 points. The result put Rudar bottom of the table in 10th, whereas Gorica moved to 6th place.

Olimpija were unable to win despite dominating away at Zavrc, as their game ended 0-0. Olimpija had the larger share of possession, and had significantly more chances, but the Zavrc defence stood firm to keep the game goalless.

Maribor also got their first win of the season with a 1-0 win away at Domzale. The only goal of the game was scored by Marcos Taveres. The result leaves Maribor in 4th place, 2 points away from top spot.

Krsko continued their winning form with another 1-0 win, this time at home to Koper. David Poljanec scored the only goal of the game, which means Krsko are the only team to have won their opening 2 matches, despite them competing in the 2. SNL last season.

Celje and Krka played out a 1-1 draw which ended in a frantic finale. The game looked to be ending as a 0-0 draw until Krka won an 87th minute penalty, which resulted in a red card for Vidmajer. Nana Welbeck converted the spot kick, which in most games would have been the winner. However, Firer equalised in the final minute to give Celje an unlikely point.
